After Christmas Shock? Use Nutrition To Keep You Healthy

We are all busy, and many times we do not have the time to prepare and receive the proper that we need. Switching to easy to make meals can often lead to not getting the proper vitamins and proteins your body needs. Having Christmas and New Year’s well behind us, it is time to reevaluate what we wil leat for the entire year to keep ourselves healthy.  This article will give you some great ideas to help balance your diet without having to cook a large meal.

So lets see – how about if there are certain meals you love to eat,you just make some healthy substitutions, instead of eliminating completely. For example, skim or 1 percent milk will replace of whole, as well as low-fat cheese and butter substitutes all can allow you to keep your favorite foods on the menu.

The combination of the holiday season and spending a lot of time indoors during the winter, makes it very easy to open the fridge every five minutes and binge on food that is less than nutritious. Here is what we did – we donated allthe sweets and treats that we had left at the holiday gatherings and replaced them with fresh fruit and veggies as well as and high fiber foods.

Replacing red meat with turkey, chicken or lentils. Try to use proper seasoning which makes meals so flavorful, so be creative with your substitutes. For example, did you know that you can complete cut sugar at your tea and dip in a cinnamon stick in ti which will add a sweet taste with NO calories?  You may find yourself surprised at how versatile seasonings are!

If you are interested in having your children eat things that are more nutritious it is best that you do things gradually. You could start off by making games with the food. Another good idea is to bake french fries instead of frying them.

For snacking “on-the-go” be sure to carry a reusable pack filled with fresh fruit in season and a bottle of water that you can fill at home, from the tap. Having a healthful snack with you at work, such as bowl of fruits, carrots or sliced cucumber, and plenty of drinking water with you, you will avoid the temptation to buy and consume any soft drinks and junk food to when you crave something.

A wonderful nutritious food is lentils. It is a delicious source of zinc, niacin, ironand dietary fiber, in addition to a variety of other vitamins and minerals. It can be used in salads or soups, or just about anywhere. If you do not want to prepare them on your own, you can get them on a jar, packed with great noodles for extra taste and nutrition.
