With today’s stressful, high-pressure lifestyle, information overload and living ‘online’ almost 24/7, a
lot of us are finding that our mental energy is being severely compromised. Either we’re not getting
enough rest, not eating the right foods or just never able to completely switch off. The world is
more accessible to us today, but we have the same amount of attention and focus that we can give
as our predecessors had. Can eating a better diet help prevent some of the symptoms of our
modern lives?
We researched a couple of articles online to delve deeper into the what causes our mental energy
to dip. What can we do to improve our performance at work or in school? This article suggests that
it’s all about feeding your brain with the right kind of fuel. With good quality carbohydrates and
proteins as well as adequate hydration. Eat your meals at regular times.

Does what we eat matter? Of course! The good news is that all the foods suggested here are really
delicious and easy to incorporate into your diet: blueberries, avocado, oily fish, seeds and nuts,
beans, pomegranate, flax seeds, good old olive oil (hope you’re well stocked up on our Urbangrains Olive Oils), greens and also cooked tomatoes.
And the best part? That list also includes dark chocolate! What’s not to love?
